  1. youll never know until you try….

People say mac is hard to use but its not. It is actually easier plus the interface is so much more professional.
Give it a try, buy a macbook/pro and return before 30days if your not happy with it.
    youll love it though lol

Continue in yr beliefs it is nothing great beside the fact that it is a UNIX but other UNIX like Linux are available free so MACS are nothing it is just apples propaganda

  3. An occasional hiccup with anything ill get an occasional hiccup with anything ill get an occasional hiccup.

  4. My pc and truly incredible os for free that you macs are excellent designform function and success in each machine if had to pay for the hardware would be attributed to choose just one.
An informed decision by reading as much as you could port everything pc because it can do.

Mac OSX is the worst operating system I’ve ever seen. Period.

Imagine taking Windows Vista and crossing it with a crappy hybrid kernel version of UNIX. There you go. Mac OSX.

  6. Windows Good:
    -Dominates the gaming market
-Has the most software available for it
-gradually starting to become more Unix-like, borrowing features like UAC

    Windows Bad:
-More popular so most viruses are written for it
-Microsoft doesn’t have complete control over what their OS runs on, so people can sometimes run into driver problems and incompatibilities

    OS X Good:
    -dominates in video editing

    *No! wrong Steve! @!#@#@ No!*
    -Unix-like
    #$@#$#$#@#$@#@$

-Apple builds all Macs, writes all the drivers, makes Mac OS X, and has complete control of what their operating system runs on. Because of this, people tend to have less problems because it doesn’t take much to correctly set up a Mac. But please note that a correctly set up Windows PC will crash just as little times as a correctly set up Mac
-There are less much less Mac users than Windows users, so Macs are less likely to get viruses.

    Mac OS X bad:
-There is a lot of good software that isn’t available for OS X
-Most games aren’t available for OS X

Hi, I agree with Steve about the points he made except one.

Mac OS X is not BSD Unix, some BSD users very kindly informed that to me once. Mac OS X uses the Darwin kernel and that is made of some BSD code, some Next code, and some code by Apple, all together its called Darwin.

Mac OS X is a Unix like operating system as true Unix doesn’t exist, maybe only Solaris can be called Unix.

There r some good things about OS X like:

    1. Its Unix just like Linux.
2.They look pretty by default, and yes I agree Vista looks better.
    3. Hardware and software work together, that was pretty obvious since Apple makes both.
    4. No issues and annoying bugs like Linux.
    5. Good software.
    6. Updates don’t destroy your machine.
    7. Every upgrade is better than the old one, I am referring this to the fact so many people downgraded from Vista to Xp.
    8. Software works together, this is the most important for example when choosing a display pic in iChat it will search the iphoto library if u want rather than just give u window to locate the file that means one program knows of the others existence.
    9. Polished, OS X is very polished.
    10. I know some systems like Linux has the best 3d effects but OS X’s 3d effects look elegant don’t make your system unstable.

  8. Gosh! I luv these threads! But darn it by the time my tired @ss gets here all the cool commentary and rants are in! Not going the fan-boy route here. MacX is very cool, with its fluid moves, and widgety stuff. You CAN get X running on a Pc, did you know that? Seen it done. Thought about it for kicks, but why bother? I suppose my issue w/ MacX is that people claim superiority for it, because of the tight control measures for hard-software integration. Here’s a thought — life in front of a computer ends up being complicated by the existence of complicated s’ware…. the ease with which you can drown in online info, and too many user tools can make you less productive! Wierd, huh?

Take a look at the 1st link below, had a feeling…..
The 2nd link is a cool place to read the rants on people swearing to X or vista…

  9. As a life long PC user who just recently switched to a Macbook Pro, because of problems I was having with Vista, and still getting familiar with it, the latest OS streamlines many of he features to enable greater integration and speed. The major change that I see is it allows users to also use Windows OS at the same time as users are using Leopard.

The main advantage a Mac has is its functions are more integrated with the software. Music, photos, movies and editing are much easier to review, change and edit and file. Right now if you’re buying a new computer if you consider all the software you don’t have to buy with a Mac, you will the cost is the same. Another plus is you don’t have to spend time screwing with setting to make applications work with the OS. That’s already been figured out.

Because Vista is still not complete and a finished OS with drivers that fully work for graphics and sound, there is a lot of lag and poor quality. An HP I had had sounds that seems like a piece of tin and the picture from real player was very poor.

The Macs Quicktime and Quicktime Pro are of higher quality. Quicktime Pro cost $30, but works with all video and audio formats and can convert them all to what ever format you prefer.

Since I also tend to keep computers longer than most, I also enjoy the look of the Mac. The biggest draw back of a MAC is parts like Hard drives, take a lot more effort and money to replace and disc drives are very difficult to upgrade if not impossible.

Since their graphics are better and Apple does have all the faster processors as well as the ability t use as much as 32GB RAM in their desktops, a lot of gamers are also switching to Macs because XP actually runs better on Apples than on any PC.

For the average user, its a matter of personal preference.

XP is a robust OS that has a ton of Applications and it has its advantages

In comparing OS systems, all I can tell you is if Vista didn’t hog so many resources and worked right out of a box with the applications I wanted to use with it, I would not be using a MAC. But as I get older, I have less patience with waiting for Vista to turn around and cure its problems. Vista really had a great potential to be great and it in itself gives no reason to upgrade. It essentially forces you to use two OS or switch to XP. I figured, if I do that, I may as well purchase a Mac for the same price and load XP on that.

Again, it’ a door MS opened when it forced 32 bit people to use Vista. Leopard is already 64 bit. Vista 64 bit OS and Applications are not yet there
