This is happening because Network Disk is selected in the Startup Disk control panel and no NetBoot servers are available.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Startup Disk control panel.

    2. Select the appropriate startup disk icon.

    3. Close the Startup Disk control panel.

    4. Restart the computer.

If you can’t get to the Startup Disk control panel, you could startup from your install disks and choose your startup disk, usually Macintosh HD” and then go thru the steps above.

    # Insert the Software Install disc that came with your computer.
    # Restart your computer and immediately press and hold the C key to start up from the disc.
    # When the Installer appears, choose Quit Installer from the Installer menu and choose ” Macintosh HD” as a startup disk and restart.

  2. The flashing globe usually means it’s trying to find a netboot volume. Go into the sytem preferences. Click on the Startup Disk preference to make sure you have the system folder on the Macintosh HD selected. You may also need to Use Disk Utility(it’s in the utilities folder in the applications folder) to repair disk permissions.

  3. If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
