yes but you need to buy a windows operating system disk.

Q: Is it true that macbooks are best for college student?
A: Yes and no…. macs and pcs are pretty much the same, they both can get your work done…. macs + pcs have their ups and downs….. so… the point is… just pick a pc or mac based on your own opinions…. Really, Mac vs PC, there is no answer, its all opinion based.

Macs… people list nothing but their advantages… really, theres not alot of programs that will run on a mac. 95% of all programs today are specifically made for the windows operating system….
Now, lets talk about PCs. They share a large market share, but they are vulnerable to viruses….. however, you can take some easy precautions and actions (such as install an antivirus) and it will be fine.

Yes, Windows will boot natively on a Mac via Boot Camp. You can also run it right in the Mac OS, using Parallels. Both options require a Windows CD, however. As far as “the best” for students, a Macbook pro is perfectly fine. There is no best, in my opinion, because everybody has different needs. If you can afford it, certainly the quality of the MBP is unmatched.

  3. Yeah you can just get a Windows CD and install it, but I don’t know what kind of retard would if an APPLE laptop is specifically configured to run OS by Apple. Installing Windows on Apple, is like using a Computer to watch TV on if thats what a TV is for. I mean, both things are possible, but that’s not what it’s for. I hope this helps, and you’d get the point. -SONY-AC

  4. Yes, because of a software called Parallels you can run both operating systems. But in order to do that you have to buy a full retail copy of Windows and make sure you have the Parallels software or Boot Camp.

Also Mac isn’t the best computer for a college student. While some people may pull the classic “Mac’s don’t get viruses” line, what they fail to realize is the only reason why Mac’s don’t have viruses is because their market share is too low for hackers to bother writing a virus for Mac. So if enough people buy Mac you be in the same situation as any Windows user. Also when threats are discovered on Mac it usually takes Apple 3 to 4 times longer to respond with a patch since they think their operating system is invincible than Microsoft does, plus a laptop installed with Windows only will cost you less and still do the same tasks as a much more expensive Mac.

Yes. You need the installation disk for Windows XP THAT HAS SERVICE PACK 2 ON IT (if it doesn’t have service pack 2 it wont work). You do it with a program called “boot camp” and it comes standard on new macs that are running Leopard. The one guy said people only talk about the advantages of Macs….. That’s because there aren’t any disadvantages that I know of. They come standard with just about everything you’ll ever need and if they don’t have a program you need, you can just go to apple.com & find it easy. It is a very good idea to install Windows on the Mac because if you’d ever want to play a game the vast majority of games are designed for Windows. Use Windows only when you have no other choice (like for playing games or for IM programs) because it’s so susceptible to everything thats bad for a computer. As for collage, yes the Mac is a good choice because Macs excel at creative stuff like you do in collage and you won’t be wasting time figuring out why your computer doesn’t work all the time. If you’ve got the money, there’s no better choice than a MacBook Pro. I have a MacBook and I sometimes regret not getting the Pro just because the Pro has a MUCH better video card and I could play alot more games. But, if your not a gamer, you really don’t need a Pro. A basic MacBook is a very capable computer and why spend an extra $1000 if you don’t have to? Hope this helps…

  6. If you like continually fixing and upgrading your computer, then by all means purchase a PC. If you like using your computer relatively hassle-free, then purchase a Mac. Yes, you can run the Windows operating system, but why would you want to?

I’ve been using Apple computers for years and years. Meanwhile, my PC friends have been fixing, upgrading, and disposing of their PCs.

I rarely have a problem and it’s usually an easy fix. Then I’m back in business.

Plus, everywhere you go with a MacBook you’ll turn heads. Add some cool graphics and you’ll really attract attention.

Isn’t it the cool dude in those commercials who’s “Mac?” Yeah, I’d really like to be the other guy…

Buy a Mac and you’ll never look back. Buy a PC and you’ll always wonder if things would have been better with a Mac.
